MY FAVORITE PHILIPPINE HERO! FRANCISCO BALTAZAR

Francisco Baltazar (Balagtas) was born in the town of Panginay, Bigaa, Bulacan, on April 2, 1788. His parents were Juan Baltazar (Father) and Juana de la Cruz (Mother) both from the same town. Francisco was the youngest of the children.

Balagtas studied theology, cannon law, philosophy and other courses.

Dr. Pilapil was Balagtas first teacher in writing.

When Balagtas lived in Pandacan, he met Maria Asuncion Rivera whose nickname was Celia. Mariano Kapule, a wealthy man became his rival in his love for Celia. Mariano tried to look for a way by which Balagtas could be sent to jail. The great jealousy and sincere love for Celia made Balagtas write his famous poem "Florante at Laura".

When Balagtas came out of prison, he went to Bataan in order to become assistant judge in that town. He also became "Teniente Mayor" and "Juez de Cementera" in Udiong. Here is where he met a beautiful woman named Juana Tiambeng in 1842. While living peacefully with his family, he accused of cutting short the hair of a maid, and was imprisoned for this. He wrote several poems while in prison. When Balagtas was released , he continued on writing poems.

Balagtas died on Febraury 20, 1862 at the age of seventy-four.

GALAXY (OUR OWN GALAXY)

GALAXY a wonderful and fitting name for its wonderful colors and a wide place. A one Galaxy has billions or trillions of stars. It also have millions of planets.

Someone once called galaxies 'star islands' in space. A galaxy is made up of huge group of STARS. Our SUN is just one star of about 100,000 million stars that belong to the Milky Way galaxy. A beam of light would take about 100,000 years to shine from one side of the Milky Way to the other. Yet the Milky Way is only a middle-sized galaxy.

Our galaxy belongs to what we call the Local Group - a collection of 30 galaxies. Few galaxies so far discovered at their correct distances apart, although their sizes are not to scale.

Arkwright, Sir Richard (1732-92), Sir Richard Arkwright was born in the English seaport town of Preston in Lancashire. At the age of ten he became an apprentice in a barber's shop. While he was there he discovered a way of dyeing hair so that the color did not fade in the weather. He also made wigs and sold them in nearby towns and villages.

Arkwright watched the cotton weavers working in their homes. Although they used cotton thread from side to side of the loom, he noticed that they wove it in and out of Irish linen threads stretching from the top of the loom to the bottom. When he asked the reason for this, they said that they could not spin cotton thread which was fine enough or strong enough to use for the warp(which ran from end to end with cloth).

Adams, Robert(b.c. 1791, Ireland - d. Jan. 13, 1875. Dublin), clinician noted for his contributions to the knowledge of heart disease and gout. In 1827 he described a condition characterized by a very slow pulse and by transient giddiness or convulsive seizures, known as the Adams-Stokes disease or syndrome.

Educated at Trinity College, Dublin, Adams studied medicine in Europe and then returned and served as surgeon to the Jervis Street and Richmond hospitals. In 1861 he was appointed surgeon to the queen in Ireland and regius professor of surgery at the University of Dublin.

The Abduction of Elizabeth Klarer

Elizabeth Klarer a South African who claimed to have been contacted by a extraterrestrial being between 1954 - 1963. She was a women to claim sexual relationship with an extraterrestrial.

She studied meteorology and music, and learn to fly light aircraft. When Elizabeth recalled that she had been receiving telepathic messages from a far far away planet from a alien named Akon since childhood. Elizabeth easily managed Akon to call down and his scout ship on April 7, 1956, for an actual landing. After that happened, Elizabeth was carried up to the mother ship in earth orbit!  Klarer published a book, "Beyond the Light Barrier (1980)", this book is all about her extraterrestrial adventures. She was transported to Akon's planet where she became pregnant, and eventually delivered a male child. Elizabeth Klarer died in 1994 in South Africa.

The Robert Taylor Incident

The Robert Taylor Incident, aka Livingston Incident. Taylor was a forester. On November 9, 1979, Taylor parked his pickup truck at the side of the road and walked along a forest path up the side of Dechmont Law with his dog. Suddenly Taylor reported seeing a "Flying Dome" or a large, circular sphere which estimates for about 7 yards(6.4 metres) in diameter, hovering above the forest floor in a clearing about 530 yards(480 metres) away from his truck. Later on the flying dome seized him and were dragging him in the direction of the larger object when he lost consciousness. According to Taylor, he later awoke and the objects were gone, but he could not start his truck, so he walked back to his home in Livingston.
